The Artwork of Donna Lorello - Pouring heart and soul into every creation...
Specializing in Spots
Model horses have been a passion of mine for many years. It allowed me
the opportunity to share my love of the equine with people near and
far. My work continues to evolve as I examine and test out new
techniques. To date, I work in a combination of acrylics, pastels and
pencils to create realistic 3D renderings of model horses, dogs, and
even fantasy creatures. I choose my media depending on the intended
outcome of the piece. My work is live show quality and over the last
several years has earned numerous NAN qualifications in both breed and
workmanship and been sold to many happy customers in the United States,
Germany, Sweden, Italy, the UK and Australia. Pictured above is
Arcadiana, owned and shown by Marla Philips - a G3 Drafter painted as a
Sugarbush Draft horse that continues to win Championships and has a 2008
NAN Top Ten in CM Breed Halter.
Please know that my philosophy towards my art work is not geared towards NAN qualifications/wins. Although I love to hear about successes in the show ring, and I do have a gallery of champions on the Hall of Fame page, I don't paint with that in mind. I paint to create works of art that are geared towards realism of the assorted colors and coat patterns of the equine with my goal of making YOU, the customer, happy. NAN qualifications and live show championships are gravy to me.
Periodically, I get a whim to create scale props for use with model horses. I'm also an avid nature photographer with a penchant for macro imaging and creative photo compilations. But it doesn't stop there... I've found digital art and creative post-processing equally stimulating for this creative spirit.

For the most part, I make a scroll of my initials DML and date the piece. Previously in the past, I've made a logo using AC and a date. If you think you own something by me, please feel free to contact me for verification.
